WHAT THIS IS?

Hawktail Camp is a 2-day online experience for musicians of all instruments giving a deep dive into the music of this transcendent stringband. Throughout the workshop, the band members will discuss their variety of influences and break down their compositions and elaborate arrangements. This "peek behind the curtains" into Hawktail's process will expand your musical expertise, inspire countless new ideas, and bring your music to new heights.

The camp is geared towards intermediate, advanced, and professional musicians. While beginners are welcome, the faculty will not offer technique fundamentals.

All classes are held on Zoom Webinar.

All classes and concerts will be recorded and accessible after the weekend on a password-protected site.

TESTIMONIALS from our other camps

"By far and away this has been the most carefully thought out, constructed, and executed music camp I've ever been to. Not only were the instructors top-notch teachers, but they're also some of the best musicians I've ever encountered. I met many new friends, gained a lifetime's worth of study material, and feel like I enriched my life in deeper ways of thinking not just musically. Truly a life-changing experience.

I went into the workshop so tired of zoom meetings and questioned the ability to really learn an instrument in this format. I was totally wrong. I got a ton out of the classes, they were so well organized and the quality of instruction was the best I have experienced. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best players around.

"I have been to a handful of camps in my years of playing but Banjo Summit has been the one where I have gotten the most out of the experience. All the faculty were incredibly knowledgeable and willing to share their know-how. The diverse classes taught meant that I could pick and choose what interested me most and the way the classes were set up meant that we could dive deep into the chosen topic."

I have "attended" a lot of online music workshops. This was probably THE best one that I have experienced. Perhaps because it was more geared to figuring out what works and doesn't, and addressed a lot of questions more advanced players have, including how to refine your technique, not just how to play tunes. It was also awesome to discuss the different experiences that people have playing in certain ensembles, and how to approach accompaniment, as well as being the "star" (taking solos).
